You need PAT testing if: - You are an employer using portable appliances - You employ 5 or more employees - If you carry out health & safety / fire risk    assessments

The regulatory reform (fire safety) order 2005 states that responsibility for compliance rests with the responsible person. This is usually the employer / manger / owner.

The IEE code of practice suggests that frequency is based on the type of equipment, the location and the way in which the epuipment is used. However in most cases 12 months annual testing is necessary

Any electrical appliance that has a standard plug on the end needs to be tested according to Electricity at Work Regulation 4 (2) this is done to ensure that the electrical appliance is kept in a safe and working condtion.
